Philomena

This film is the perfect antidote for cynicism, and will probably fill you with the urge to punch a nun.  An incredibly emotional and brutal story told beautifully with humor and tenderness by Frears, Coogan and Dench.  We all knew Steve Coogan was destined for greatness after the undeniable brilliance and subtlety of Saxondale and The Trip.  Now I have to upgrade Coogan from “person of interest” to one of the great screenwriters working today.
